Winter Escape

Early morning sitting in the kitchen bundled up in a blanket, with the heater on. I can’t be the only woman here, who tends to put the heater on too high a time or two. Then again maybe it’s just a husband trait to never let us forget, we’ve turned the dial up to 80 degrees! This past week in California we’ve reached an all time low for the bay area, hovering around the low 40s and upper 30s we can finally dust off our wool coats to stay warm.

Of course this is nothing coming from a California girl, but this week I’ve been envious of everyone who lives in the snow. I am sure it isn’t always all glamorous and cozy as these pictures portray. My husband and I long to live in a place that has all four seasons; beautiful golden trees, snow, blossoms and hot summer sun. It sounds so magical to wake up to fresh snow in the morning, but until then these images are all I have to bring me close.

Anyone interested in brunch on the deck in the warm sunshine? The addition of faux fur - mongolian throw pillows brings an element of softness to the teak dining table. One can only dream of sitting out here with a morning coffee or hot coco with marshmallows.

Stretch those legs and take a walk outside. This treelined trail looks like a fun adventure.

The large windows in this living room, makes you feel like you’re outside in the snow. I would love to snuggle up on the sofa with a good book, blanket and listen to the crackling of the fireplace. The mix of orange and green work beautiful together with the white backdrop of the snow covered peaks.

This brick facade against the blanket of white snow sets the perfect fairytale scene for a winter wonderland.

We are expected to receive more rain this coming weekend, another storm making its way through. The other end of the spectrum, many people like to escape to the sunshine filled beaches. How are you spending your winter months?
